Student Help & Mental Health Resources

Below is a collection of resources for mental health and student help. These are resources that the University provides, and they can be used to help maintain a healthy state of being. Also included on this page are a few articles that touch upon the importance of women in engineering and how to increase the number of women in engineering.

Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities

This Statement describes violations of University policies that are subject to action under the Statement, procedures (including reporting methods) to respond to these behaviors, and sanctions and interventions that can be used to educate and ensure the safety of all University community members.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Counseling and Psychological Services allows the student body to receive care and services to take positive strides towards mental health. Resources that can be found here include: counselling options, workshop and lunch series opportunities, crisis services, and resources to set up appointments.

MiTalk

MiTalk is an online resource that provides mental health aid through online mental health screenings for depression and anxiety, tools to help students manage stress and academic life, multimedia workshops, and relaxation exercises to play or download.

Spectrum Center

The Spectrum Center provides support for students who identify themselves in the LGBTQ+ spectrum through mentorship and safe spaces. It provides a number of educational opportunities through workshops, My Voice panels, and Allyhood Development Training. You can also learn more about the different LGBTQ+ organizations on campus and the numerous volunteering opportunities available.

Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center

Also known as SAPAC, this organization promotes crisis-intervention, activism, advocacy, and support for those who are victim to sexual assault and harassment, stalking, and intimate partner violence. It also promotes education, leadership, and ally development for those stduents who are willing to step out of their comfort zone and help their peers in times of need.

Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs

Also known as MESA, this organization promotes the importance of ethnic and racial diversity, inclusive spaces, equitable opportunities, and social justice. Here, you can learn more about mentorship and ally opportunities, different heritage months, academic and scholarship opportunities, and the diverse organizations on campus.

Helping Survivors

Helping Survivors is an organization on a mission to help heal, educate, and empower people who have been impacted by sexual assault and abuse. They help survivors of Uber/Lyft sexual assault, workplace sexual harassment, and institutional based sexual assault.

Engineering Learning Center

The Engineering Learning Center is an academic resource for engineering students, particularly first and second years. It provides a variety of resources, including CAEN computers, peer tutoring, SI sessions led by students, practice exam sessions, workshops on improving study skills, and more. You can also fill out an application if you're interested in becoming a SI or tutor!

Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society, provides one-on-one tutoring sessions for chemistry, math, physics, engineering intro, and other major-specific courses.
